This is your chance to add to the illustrious history of Ormskirk Tennis Club. Have you got any early photos that you'd like to see on the Club's web site? They can be of people, club member's exploits, the club's buildings and facilities, or anything else of interest.
The Club is to celebrate its centenary in 2005 and is looking for members, both past and present, to send in any items of special interest that will be added to make a booklet on the history of the club.

Ormskirk Tennis Club has a long history of tournament play - the Rydal Trophy was first contested in 1934. A full list of winners of this prestigious trophy and all club champions is avaliable online.
Barry Cowan was a junior member of Ormskirk Tennis Club in the 1980s and went on to play the reigning Wimbledon champion, Pete Sampras, in the second round of the 2001 Championships.
Cowan was knocked out in the second round of the Wimbledon 2002 Championships by Nicolas Lapentti of Ecuador, who went on to reach the quarter-finals.

This is an aerial photograph of Ormskirk from the west of the town taken in the early 1960s. The present-day Club site is not shown although you can make out the tennis courts in Coronation Park and the former gasworks site on which Safeway's supermarket is built. See the enlarged photo to get a better look.
Ormskirk Tennis Club has awarded seven people with honorary life membership.
